Arrival and Dismissal
Parents may not drop their child off before 7:30AM. Scholars are not permitted into the school building before 7:30AM.
K-1 Morning Bus Arrival
The morning buses are met by a staff member at Exit #1 on Villa Avenue.
- Under staff supervision, scholars are escorted to the Cafeteria/Gym for breakfast.
- Scholars will be seated by their classroom section.
- Dismissal from the Cafeteria/Gym will begin at 7:55AM—Teacher/TA will instruct scholars to clean up their area, gather all their belongings and line up. They will then be escorted to their classroom.
K-1 Parent Drop Off
Kindergarteners and 1st Grade scholars enter through Exit #3 between 7:30AM and 7:55AM.
- Parents will park in designated spots and walk their child to Exit #3
- Under staff supervision, scholars are escorted to the Cafeteria/Gym for beakfast. ○ Scholars will be seated by their classroom section.
- Dismissal from the Cafeteria/Gym will begin at 7:55AM—Teacher/TA will instruct scholars to clean up their area, gather all their belongings and line up. They will then be escorted to their classroom.
Late Arrivals
Any child who arrives after 8:00AM is late to school. When late for school the parent must bring the child into the school through Exit #1 (Villa Avenue). A staff member will issue a late pass and escort the child to her/his classroom.
K-1 Afternoon Bus Dismissal
- 3:55PM (1:55PM on Wednesday) – All school bus riders will be called by their bus name (example – Red bus or A bus) and escorted to Exit #1.
- School bus monitors will line scholars up (single file line), take attendance and then escort scholars out of Exit #1 and onto the waiting buses. Scholars may not ride home on a bus that is not assigned to them.
- Additional staff with radios will be outside to support with this process
K-1 Afternoon Pick Up
4:00PM—Scholars will be escorted to their designated exit for dismissal
- Exit #2 (Kindergarten)
- Exit #3 (1st Grade)
Teachers will check the ID of the adult picking up the scholar and ensure they are cleared to pick up the scholar.
- Operations will provide lists with each scholar and the names of adults approved to pick them up from school.
- Make sure to “dismiss” your scholars —Make eye contact, say goodbye to each other directly and/or shake their hand, fist bump, give a hug, etc.
- This is another measure of ensuring they are leaving your care and going with the approved adult picking them up from school.
DO NOT RELEASE A SCHOLAR TO SOMEONE WHO IS NOT ON THE APPORVED LIST. KEEP THE SCHOLAR WITH YOU AND REQUEST ASSISTANCE FROM AN ADMINSTRATOR, MR. PEREZ OR OPERATIONS.
Please remember that pick-up is not an appropriate time for an extended conversation with parents. Encourage them to make an appointment if they need to speak with you or arrange for a phone call.
Pick Up in Inclement Weather for Kindergarten and 1st Grade: In inclement weather, Parents should already be there with umbrellas, waiting for their children. We will notify families of an alternate pick up plan only if there are dangerous conditions outside (such as ice).
Early Pick-Up: No early pick-up will be accommodated from 3:30PM to 4:00PM on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday or from 1:30PM to 2:00PM on Wednesdays, except in the case of an emergency or illness. We cannot release scholars early for doctor’s appointments (unless related to that day’s illness.)
Parking on South Campus
Visitors and Staff may only park in parking spots that are reserved for New World Prep. Staff, parents and visitors are not permitted to park in the parking area reserved for St. Adalbert/St Roch Church. If there are no parking spots available you will need to park your car on the street.

Grades 2, 3, and 4 and Morning Bus Arrival
The morning buses are met by a staff member. All bus scholars enter the building through Exit #1 (Large School Parking Lot) and report to the cafeteria. They may have breakfast at that time.
Grades 2, 3, and 4 Parent Drop Off
Parents are to drop their child off on St. Adalbert’s Place by the side cafeteria door (Exit #4). Second, third, fourth and fifth grade scholars enter through Exit #4 between 7:30 am – 7:55 am. A NWP staff member will be at the door to greet the scholars. Parents are asked to quickly say goodbye to their child as they leave their care in order to reduce congestion.
Any child not in school by 8:00AM must be brought by the parent to the Main Office Building (not the school building). The parents must park and bring them to the Main Office at Exit #12. A staff member will issue a late pass and escort the child to her/his classroom.
Grades 2, 3, and 4 – Afternoon Bus Dismissal

Grades 2, 3, and 4 – Afternoon Pick Up
Parents will pick up scholars from Exit #1, located in the Courtyard (on Morningstar Rd. in-between the School and Main Office Buildings).
Entering the Courtyard—Use the opening (south entrance) to enter the Courtyard and drive up towards the School building. Use the two rows in the center to park and then go to Exit #1 to meet your child.
Exiting the Courtyard—The opposite gate (north entrance; closest to the Main Office building) will be opened once all or most scholars have been picked up and are safely in their cars. Parents who arrived first and parked in spaces closest to the school building and farthest from Morningstar will be instructed to exit and all others will follow (first cars in will be the first car out).
Please note:
- If you need to leave right away, DO NOT park in the lot. You should park on the street and walk to Exit #1 to pick up your child. This way you do not need to wait for the gate to be opened for dismissal.
- Parents not using cars to pick up their child(ren) should use the outer perimeter of the Courtyard to safely walk to Exit #1 get their child and exit the Courtyard (this area will be marked with cones)
Walkers /City Bus Riders
Scholars who travel by City Bus will be dismissed at 4:00PM from Exit #3.
Please note:
- If you are picking up your 5th grader, but want them you meet you off of school grounds they are considered a walker and will be dismissed from Exit #3.
- For every child’s safety parents need to make sure to have their child say goodbye to the teacher directly. This is customarily done with a handshake and the teacher making eye contact with the retrieving adult. Please remember that pick-up is not an appropriate time for an extended conversation with the teacher. Please make an appointment if you need to speak with the teacher or arrange for a phone call.
- All names of approved individuals for pick up must be given to the Main Office. No child will be dismissed during the school day unless that individual’s name is on our school record for dismissal and they are 18 years of age. Proper identification is required for a child to be released from school to an individual.

Grades 5, 6, 7 and 8 Morning Bus Arrival
Morning buses are met outside on Clove Road by a staff member. All bus scholars immediately enter the school through the main entrance (Exit #1). Under staff supervision, Scholars may have breakfast in the cafeteria until 7:55AM.
Grades 5, 6, 7 and 8 Walkers and Drop Off
Scholars must be dropped off on the curb side of the main entrance of the school as a safety precaution, to avoid scholars crossing the busy street of Clove Road.
Scholars will enter the campus through the Main Entrance on Clove Road. The Campus officially opens at 7:30AM. Under staff supervision, Scholars may have breakfast in the cafeteria until 7:55AM. Any Scholar arriving after the door closes is late to school and must get a late pass from the main office.
Inclement Weather
There is no change in procedure. Scholars are expected to bring an umbrella with them on rainy days. Scholars may be held when there is severe weather conditions.
Dismissal Supervision
Teachers and other school staff will be outside the building beginning at 4:00PM to supervise scholars as they are dismissed from school. Please remember that pick-up is not an appropriate time for an extended conversation with the supervising staff. Please make an appointment if you need to speak with the teacher or arrange for a phone call.
Student Pick-up
Scholars who are picked up by parents wait in the large parking lot with the entrance on Clove Road. Parents enter via the main gate and park their car. If you are not driving you may wait in the parking lot by the staircase for your child to come out of the school building. The gate will open at 3:50PM and classes will begin to come out at 4:00PM. Once all scholars have gotten to their cars you will be directed to exit out the gate exit on Castleton.
If you need to leave right away, DO NOT park in the parking lot. This way you do not need to wait for the gate to be opened for dismissal. You should have your child meet you on White Place and Clove Road. No cars are permitted in front of the school on Clove and students will not be permitted to cross the street at dismissal time.
School Bus Dismissal
Scholars riding the school bus home will be called by their bus name (example – Red bus or A bus) at 3:55PM (1:55 PM on Wednesdays) and directed to the Main Entrance. School staff will escort scholars out the door and onto the waiting buses on Clove Rd. Scholars may not ride home on a bus that is not assigned to them
City Bus/Walkers/Parent Pick up Dismissal
Once the buses have been dismissed all other scholars are dismissed (approximately at 4:00PM). The scholars will be dismissed out of Exit #2 (the alleyway leading to the back of the school) and in the following order: 8th Grade, 7th Grade, 6th Grade and 5th Grade. All scholars are expected to leave the immediate school area. Scholars do not need to be met by an adult; they can leave on their own only at dismissal time.

Parking On Campus
There is limited on campus parking. Parents and visitors are only allowed to park in designated NWP parking spaces. If you park in a non-designated spot you can be towed at your own expense. If there are no available NWP parking spaces you must park on the street.
Parent Drop Off and Pick up After School
Parents please be aware that Clove Road is a heavily traveled road. Scholars should be dropped off immediately in front of the school building, not across the street from the school entrance. Scholars should always get out of the car on the curbside. It is unsafe to do u-turns in front of the school.
